Payment of Accounts
Gibraltar Radiology requires full payment on the day of your appointment.
We accept payment by:
A Medicare rebate will cover part of the fee charged for most examinations. Most patients will be required to make a gap payment in addition to the Medicare rebate. The gap amount varies depending on the type of examination. Our reception staff can advise patients of an approximate cost before their examination.
Medicare Online Claims
Our reception team can submit an online claim to Medicare for you. Any refund will be deposited into your Medicare-linked bank account within 48 hours. Not all examinations are eligible to receive a rebate from Medicare and, in those cases, no Medicare reimbursement will apply.
Gap Payments
The Medicare rebate is the amount the Federal Government contributes towards health services. It does not cover the cost of high-quality radiology services. Our carefully selected gap allows us to maintain the highest standards in imaging technology, while minimising costs to the patient.
Please note, some pathology providers charge an out-of-pocket expense for testing pathology samples. This is payable direct to the pathology provider and is separate from any Gibraltar Radiology billing.
If you have any questions regarding our billing policy, please don’t hesitate to speak with our friendly staff prior to your appointment.
The Medicare Safety Net
Medicare offers a safety net to limit the amount patients pay for medical expenses – contact Medicare on 132 011 for more information.
Pension, Health Care Card & Commonwealth Seniors Health Care Card Holders
We bulk bill Pension and Health Care Card holders for a wide range of services as well as offering reduced gap amounts for Commonwealth Seniors Health Care Card Holders.
However, due to the calibre of the machines in our clinic and the costs of providing premium images and high-quality reports, not all examinations are bulk billed and still many incur a fee.
Please contact our reception team for more information.
International patients
All overseas patients who do not hold an Australian Medicare card are required to pay in full on the day.
Depending on your insurance cover, you may be eligible to claim a portion of fees paid as a rebate through your insurance company.
We recommend that you contact your insurance company as soon as possible to clarify what your policy does or does not cover.
Workers Compensation and Third-Party Accounts
In order to bill any of our radiology services to a Workers Compensation or Third-Party insurer we will need to be provided with the insurer details and claim number.
If you do not have these details, we will require either written approval for payment of the service from your employer or upfront payment from you at the Workers Compensation/Third Party rate for you to then claim back through your insurer.
In some cases, we may require written pre-approval for your examination. Please contact our reception team for more information.
