About Dr James Bewes

Dr James Bewes is an Australian-trained radiologist with broad expertise across multiple imaging modalities. Following completion of specialist radiology training in Australia, he undertook additional fellowship training at Oxford University Hospital in the UK, focusing on cardiothoracic radiology.
He has specialised in occupational lung diseases and is certified NIOSH B Reader for pneumoconiosis. He is actively involved in Australia’s national rollout of lung cancer screening, and maintains memberships in several professional societies, including thoracic (ANZSTR), abdominal (ARGANZ) and musculoskeletal (AMSIG) imaging groups.

Dr Bewes lives locally in Bowral with his young family, and his children attend school in the area, strengthening his deep personal commitment to the Southern Highlands community. At Gibraltar Radiology, Dr Bewes provides high-quality diagnostic imaging and interventions, with particular expertise in MRI (including body, cancer, and neuroimaging), sports imaging, cardiac imaging, and targeted pain management.

Dr Bewes holds a Master’s degree in Medical Physics and is passionate about delivering cutting-edge radiology services to rural and regional Australia. He is committed to providing compassionate, patient-centered care, ensuring that each patient feels informed, supported, and comfortable throughout their radiology experience.

Outside of work, James enjoys spending time with his family and enjoys cricket. Amazingly, he achieved ‘Man of the Match’ in the Bowral Specialists vs GPs annual cricket game in 2023!
